Description
In ancient Roman mythology, Vertumnus was the god of season, including fruit, vegetables, and plants. In Ovid's Metamorphoses, he disguises himself as an old woman and talks with Pamona, using trickery of words to seduce her.
...........................................................
Vertumnus was said to be able to change his form. I have painted a fantasy sun, inspired largely by the painting by the great Giuseppi Arcimboldo, "Vertumnus," which featured Rudolf II as Vertumnus.

This artwork features a portrait of a fantasy sun, which is ornamented by fruits and vegetables, and flowers. A pumpkin graces the forehead, and flowers seem to crown him. His blue eyes are shielded by green pea pods; he has red plums for cheeks. And there is more. Take a good look for yourself.
