Title
Abstract City Downtown Shreveport Louisiana Urban Buildings and Church
Artist
Lenora De Lude
Medium
Painting - Acrylic
Description
This urban painting is hand painted acrylic. I was standing in the area of Fannin and Edwards Streets in the city of Shreveport Louisiana. The building on the right is the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, which is a very beautiful and painstakingly detailed building. This is only a corner of the back of it.
................................
The main colors in this artwork are red, orange, yellow, brown, blue, and various related shades. There are strong slants here, a tiny bit stronger than reality, for although I like a degree of realism, I am not a photo-realist painter.
...............................
Shreveport was founded in 1836 By the Shreve Town Company, named for Captain
Henry Miller Shreve. He was responsible for the clearing of the intriguing Red
River raft, a polite name for a 180-mile long pile of debris that had clogged the Red River for longer than anyone knew. It was said that in some places, the raft was so thick that a man could ride his horse across the river, and not so much as the hoofs would get wet.
...........................
Stay tuned. I plan to paint and upload more of the Shreveport area and the
edifices of the past and present.
