Description
I have an alternate title for this work--"Eggplant Defies Gravity." This is a luscious, deep purple eggplant in a yellow background. Green leaves grace the edges and provide an unconventional border of sorts. Yes, I know that eggplants are considered fruit, although I think of them as vegetables. I consider this artwork a still life. It was hand painted in oils.

This still life only uses one object, so of course I skipped the usual aranging of objects. For this art, I set up the eggplant and added the leaves and background from imagination. It is great fun to plan a still life. First, you see something that inspires you. Then, you decide where to paint it. Next, you arrange the objects--or set up the lone star, if that's the case. So are you ready to paint now? No!

You must now make sure the light source works. If you'd paid attention to that while choosing the site, you might not have to worry about this so much now.I sometimes block or add light. You do not want the light to come from all directions, because that is just not as interesting. Than again, there are exceptions to the rule.
