This old Louisiana hotel lives in the memories of many of the citizens of Pleaasant Hill. Here is what I learned about the hotel from a book called, "A History of Pleasant Hill Louisiana" by Amos Barron. Early in the 20th century, the Atkins family built the hotel and stables. The railroad came through the town then, and carried passengers. The hotel had two or three different owners, and then the Barnhill family bought it. It seems that one of the Barnhills married a Finn, and the building became known as the Finn Hotel.

Pleasant Hill is wrapped in history. In the 1800's, one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War was fought in the area, and every year it is remembered and re-enacted. The town was once rather busy, with several businesses, and even boasted a couple of colleges.

I would love to have seen this hotel when she was young. Adults remember the Finn as an old building...
Explore rough, rocky landscapes and old, crumbling buildings, made of rocks, stone, stucco, and wood. There are paintings of Louisiana and the southwest states of Texas, Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico. You'll also find fanciful works of imagination. These are the paintings of Lenora De Lude. "When I look at the beauty and majesty of creation, I know I can never duplicate the work of the ultimate Master, God Himself. But He has put a creative spark into me, and so I create. Come and see my creations. Pick up a few prints and cards. More will be added soon, and then more after that."
