According to what I read in the article, "Goldfish," in Wikipedia, the goldfish is a freshwater fish, and is a small member of the carp family. It is believed to be one of the earliest fish to be tamed as a pet, and as we all know, it is one of the most popular aquarium fish.

This same article reported that in April of 2008, what was believed to be the largest goldfish in the world was measured at 19 inches in the Netherlands. Apparently, the goldfish will eat and eat--and eat, earning them the distinction of being opportunistic feeders. I can't help but wonder if people eat those large ones, but it kind of makes me sick to think about it.
