Description
Way back around the 1930's, a young photographer who became known as Marion Post Wolcott was hired by the US Farm Security Administration to photograph the poverty of rural Americans. These photos are readily available at the Library of Congress website. I created a new rendition of this old country store, using acrylic paint.
This fish store was already old in the late 1930's and '40's, so I am sure that it no longer stands. I normally paint strictly from life or from my own photos, but photos like this are important historically, and I want to keep them from dying in the minds of Americans.
I painted this artwork in acrylic paint on stretched canvas. The original is sold, but prints are readily available.
