Artist's Description
About this hand painted art: The original artwork is an oil painting. For the round blue vase, I used an old bottle from Avon. The dried purple flowers were from a wedding. The model for the golden walls was--a cardboard box. Main colors are gold, blue, brown, and purple. There is also a bit of yellow, green, and red. There are bright accents. Oh, and there is white, such as the shiny part of the Avon vase.

Much of the work of creating a still life occurs before the brush is lifted. First, I decide where the setup will be, paying attention to the light source and often using large objects to channel or block some of the light--remember the cardboard box to which I alluded in the above paragraph? I usually arrange the flowers into several different positions, finally settling on one arrangement. Sometimes I draw the objects or florals with a pen or pencil before painting. Other times, I just head straight for the paint brush.
