Description
These ruins in a rocky landscape were inspired by those in New Mexico. Throughout the Southwest, rock and brick structures preside over the desert. In this piece, the pathway and the rocks lead you into the landscape. ..... About 700 years ago, there was a pueblo in the Jemez area. In the early 1600's, Spanish missionaries designed a large church and accompanying buildings there. By 1640, the mission was abandoned by the Fransiscans, and in later years, the Pueblo people left also. ..... Today you can visit the Jemez monument, consisting of the impressive ruins of the church and surrounding structures. Respect the rules and don't take any pictures inside the kiva...... The orginal painting is executed in acrylic. Again,it is inspired by the Jemez ruins and not an exact rendering.
