Description
A pasture on the edge of the woods in Northwest Louisiana shines in the light of the moon. Nights in Louisiana can be quiet and mysterious. In the winter, the frogs are no longer singing but nocturnal animals can sometimes be seen and heard. As the sun begins to set, the treeline sometimes glows, then becomes darker and darker, until it becomes what can be described as gloomy. Then the night arrives, the moon comes out, and the gloom is lost in wonder.
...........................
As a little girl in the Louisiana woods, I had the privilege of hearing about the creatures and strange people who lived among the trees, some entirely mythical and some born out of reality. The forest went on and on for miles, and one could walk in those woods for days, only stepping into the open for a few minutes to cross a road or a swath of land that had been cleared for power lines.
...........................
The leafless trees stretch gnarly fingers toward a deep blue night sky as the moon shines on the landscape. All appears to be still, but who knows what hides and moves in the dark shadows of the tree line?
