Louisiana Winter Landscape from an Oil Painting
Artist
Lenora De Lude
Medium
Painting - Oil
Description
This artwork, hand painted in oils, depicts a Louisiana winter landscape with trees. Main colors are brown, green, rust, and gray, with a little dull red. Snow is rare, yet winters can get cold enough, with temperatures hovering in the 30's or 40's. Colder weather will sometimes sneak in; temps in the teens are not unheard of.
........................
In Louisiana, winters are generally gray, brown, and dull green, with enough
warm days to allow the grass to keep coming back. White Christmas? That would be a miracle. This is one southern area that seldom sees snow.
........................
Louisiana is an often misunderstood state. Some still think of this area as all swamp and pancake land. While it is true that the state only reaches 525 feet above sea level, the bluffs at Kisatchie are surprising. There are rolling
hills and a few more bluffs throughout the state, and far more dry land than
swamp.
