Description
A cascading cluster of beads overflows a jester cup after a Louisiana Mardi Gras parade. The most intense parades tend to be in New Orleans, but all over the state, enthusiasts get into the action. The sweetest of parade spectators can become the most aggressive bead grabbers. ..... The Mardi Gras period starts after the Epiphany and consists of parades, masquerade balls, and king cake parties. On Ash Wednesday, the revelry is over, and the period of prayer and fasting begins. ..... This bead cluster was piled into the cup until it was overflowing. Then the cup and beads were painted. The first painting was done in oil as a still life and sold. I later came in for a closeup and painted another version in acrylics.
