Description
Once upon a time, my sister and I went to some old house places near Pleasant Hill, Louisiana. One place had an old house with wisteria growing out of the chimney. There were several old oak trees. I remember the moss, blowing in the wind. I looked up at the blue, blue sky through mossy limbs, and painted what I saw.

This artwork is an original oil painting--hand painted. In the larger sizes, if you are standing up close, it takes on an abstract look. Step back and it all comes together. It was painted in a loose, impressionistic style. Colors are blue, green, gray, and a little brown.

The moss that we see on oak and cypress trees is known as Spanish moss. This moss is not a parasite, and does not invade the tissue of the tree. Spanish moss is related to the pineapple, which is not obvious at all. The South is known for mossy trees, and Louisiana has a large share of it.
