This old wrecker was found abandoned in a pasture near Pleasant Hill, Louisiana--literally, put out to pasture. On the door was the word, Shreveport a company name, and a phone number for a towing service. There were a few holes in the windshield, breaks in the door windows, and a nice layer of rust. Some things were still intact, such as the lights on top.

It is easy to personify old, deserted buildings and vehicles. If I allow myself, I will begin to feel sorry for them, wondering if they feel abandoned and forlorn. But they are inanimate things, created by humans. So I find myself wondering, who drove this wrecker? What did he have to see when he drove up to some of those wrecks? Did it become routine? Is he still living today? I may never know the answer to those questions.
