Palo Duro Canyon has been called Texas's best kept secret. It is the second largest canyon in the United States, second only to the Grand Canyon herself. Although Palo Duro is quite a bit smallerthan the Grand, this desert area is impressive nonetheless. It has cliffs, hills, cabins, and much more. It has the wind, whistling down the canyon. It has the little snake that entered our cliff-side cabin one day.

This print is from an original oil painting of a hillside in the canyon. I took the picture on my first visit to Palo Duro. We stood on the hills, spreading our arms and feeling the early June wind. Can you tell I love this canyon? If you would like to go, it is located in the Texas panhandle, about twenty miles south of Amarillo.
