This floral landscape began life as an oil painting. It features yellow sunflowers with large green leaves on a hillside of green grass, under a blue and white sky. Gilliam, Louisiana is known for sunflowers. Although my sunflowers here and the landscape are imaginary, the Gilliam sunflowers are an inspiration. Once a year, Gilliam has a sunflower festival and you can ride along the sunflower trail to and from the festival.

Sunflowers are fascinating and capture the imaginations of children and adults. While the flower is developing, they move with the sun, always turning their faces toward it. When the flower has developed, it usually faces east. I know that there are some sunflowers that do not do this, but I am speaking of the single flower plants.
