Description
This is Upton Castle Gardens in Wales. According to CastleWales.com, the small castle is a former knight's holding on a creek of the Carew River. It is believed to have been built in the 13th century by a Norman family called Malefant. The male line died out and in the 18th century, the castle went out of the family. There are tombs from the 14th century that are thought to hold members of the Malefant family.

Although the property is privately owned, the gardens were open to visitors at least as recently as October of 2013.

For this painting, I used a photo that had been taken by a fellow artist and offered online for reference. This is my interpretation, and not to be taken as literally as a photograph. The painting was done in acrylic.
