Artist's Description
In this hand painted still life, three golden yellow pears stand in a row, while a red apple takes center stage in the foreground. They stand on a base of varied shades of green, while the blue background is much like the sky.

When I paint fruit, I have to be careful not to eat it! It is tempting to sit in front of those luscious pears and apples, and just paint them. First, I decide where the setup will be, paying attention to the light source and often using large objects to channel or block some of the light. I usually arrange the fruit into several different positions, finally settling on one arrangement. Sometimes I draw the objects or fruit with a pen or pencil before painting. Other times, I just head straight for the paint brush.

With this piece, I pushed the lights and shadows just a little bit digitally. I hope you enjoy this painting of an apple and three pears.

Come and see my creations. Pick up a few prints and cards. More will be added soon, and then more after that."
