This artwork contains a cross over a serpent, or snake. The cross has defeated the snake. The symbolic painting mixes the Old and New Testaments. There is a medieval tone to the hand painted piece, and it reminds me of an altarpiece as I look at it. Yes, I am the one who painted it, but my art often continues to speak to me after I have painted it.

In the book of Genesis, God tells the serpent, "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel." (Genesis 3:15, King James 2000 Bible). Although the Lord's heel was bruised, He is ultimately the victor.
