Description
These trees stood in a row behind a retirement center in Shreveport, Louisiana. I was attracted by the rich red of the berries against the cool green and blue landscape. The berries are beautiful, yet poisonous to humans. ..... Shreveport boasts many such placid landscapes within the city, whether on college grounds, in parks, or in the stately neighborhoods of the Highland area. The city was founded in 1836 By the Shreve Town Company, named for Captain Henry Miller Shreve. He was responsible for the clearing of the intriguing Red River raft, a polite name for a 180-mile long pile of debris that had clogged the Red River for longer than anyone knew.
