Description
A blue heron stalks fish in a Louisiana pond. The blue heron is found throughout North and South America. The next time you see a blue heron on a pond, take out a pair of binoculars and find a place to relax. Then, just watch this fascinating fisherman. In fact, any time is a good time to watch a pond. Ponds this far south rarely freeze in winter, and the activity is unpredictable. This pond has seen mallard ducks, egrets, and myriad other birds. Huge logger-head turtles are to be expected as well. Alas, a nutra once showed up, which is not a good thing. The original was painted in oils live from the shelter of the house as the artist looked through the windows, so the heron was not disturbed.
